Master Class #91: Deck the Halls With Holiday PR

The holiday season is in full swing, meaning opportunities for holiday-themed PR. Audiences love festive stories this time of year, and there are many ways you can capitalize on the holiday spirit to produce great press.

Holiday events, especially of a charitable nature, are a great way to contribute to the holiday joy while getting some memorable stories, pictures and quotes. Speaking of charity, this time of year is a great time for your organization to donate money to a great cause or participate in initiatives like toy drives. Not just are these incredibly fulfilling; they also positively boost your reputation and make your audience know your organization is dedicated to giving back.

There are a few things you must keep in mind when putting out any holiday-themed story. First, remember to be inclusive. Not everyone celebrates the same holidays as you, so make sure the language in your stories is not specific to just one group. Also, publicizing an excessive amount of holiday stories can feel disingenuous. If you want to do more internally, great, but don't put out more than one or two stories to the press.

Happy holidays from all of us at Jaffe Communications, and we can't wait to give you more PR tips in the New Year!
