Master Class #72: Summer Slump - PR in the Vacation Void

Helloooo. Is there anyone out there??

Summer's allure can make media silence deafening. Yet, opportunities exist for the strategic PR professional even when reporters and clients are away on vacation or just refuse to pay any attention as the calendar creeps toward August.

Our advice: prioritize digital channels where engagement often increases during vacations. Your targeted audience is still flipping though their phones as they sip something cold on the beach.

It is important, as always, to craft compelling social media content, leveraging visuals and interactive elements. Also, use the slow time to ensure your website is optimized for search and offers valuable resources.

Other important things to do, as wingtips are swapped for flip flops:

- Build anticipation for post-vacation news by teasing upcoming announcements.

- Prepare press releases and media kits in advance, ready to be disseminated swiftly.

- Maintain open lines of communication with key contacts, even if responses are delayed.

While the news cycle is awfully slow, it never stops entirely. By being prepared and adaptable, you can turn a potential PR lull into a strategic advantage that churns onward toward September and beyond!
