Master Class #75: Don't Worry, Be Happy
We all read a lot of negative news out there. So, on this slow summer day, when the world of PR takes a collective deep breath before the post Labor Day grind, here's some happy news to ponder, as you sit on your favorite Jersey beach:
- Economy: In the last 20 years, the number of people living in extreme poverty has nearly halved, and income per person has doubled since 2000. In 2023, seven countries moved into a higher income group, and poverty in Mexico decreased significantly.
- Education: Since 1970, school enrollment has increased by 17%, and female political participation is rising. (Go Kamala!)
- Renewable energy: Since 2010, the world's renewable energy capacity has increased by 80%.
- Access to clean water: Between 2000 and 2022, 2.1 billion people gained access to safe drinking water.
- Access to electricity: More than 90% of the world now has access to electricity.
- Health: 80% of one-year-old children around the world have been vaccinated against some disease, and more money is available to help refugees.
