Matt is a professional writer at Jaffe Communications, working with a wide range of clients representing business, education, economic development, government and non-profits. Matt joined the Jaffe team in October 2012 as an Associate, and is pleased to be communicating some of the most important issues affecting an eclectic, vital New Jersey audience.

Before joining the firm, Matt was senior editor at Shelterforce magazine, a leading national housing and community development trade publication. There, he worked with and edited many of the nation's most influential voices at a time when housing markets emerged as the one of country's primary challenges, affecting the economy and the quality of neighborhoods.

For five years prior, Matt served as editor of the Princeton-area Town Topics, where he also covered state, municipal, and education beats, with an emphasis on transportation, affordable housing, and county and municipal budgeting. He also reported on the lengthy and ongoing challenges related to municipal consolidation, as well as heath care challenges.

Matt's policy origins stem from his time as a communications professional with the Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association, as well as serving as an intern for Assemblyman Reed Gusciora as an undergraduate at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, where he earned his degree.

Driven by a goal to communicate effectively the day-to-day challenges and issues facing communities, and since there's no place he'd rather be than at a municipal meeting (honestly), Matt serves as a member of the town council in his hometown, Highland Park, NJ, where he and his wife live and raise their three children.

When he's not at work or on an assignment, you'll find Matt serving his community, coaching his son's travel soccer team, spending time with his family, reading various blogs and hyper-local publications, at rock concerts, at the gym late at night, or feeling pretty crummy about being a Mets fan.

While he's a New Jersey native and lifelong resident, Matt continues to be amazed by the state's variety of cultures, people, and geography. Let's face it: where else on earth can you be down the shore to get the world's best funnel cakes and then head inland to the sprawl to scarf down some of the best Indian food in the hemisphere? Only in New Jersey.
