Jack Murtha is a professional writer, observer and journalist.
He is on special assignment through Jaffe Communications to cover the City of New Brunswick, Middlesex County and Rutgers University for TAPinto New Brunswick, a hyperlocal news site owned by the firm. His work may bring him to City Hall for a story on a big-money contract one evening and to a local tavern for a piece on barroom lore the next.
When he is not breaking stories, Jack provides professional writing services for Jaffe Communications' clients, as well as providing counsel on how best for our clients to tell their stories to working media. His interesting perspective has proven invaluable for businesses, government and individuals who rely on Jaffe Communications to tell their story.
Before joining Jaffe Communications, Jack had a yearlong fellowship with the Columbia Journalism Review. He covered and analyzed journalism, industry trends and business models for the prestigious media watchdog. He earned the fellowship after graduating with honors from the master of science program at Columbia Journalism School.
Jack has covered local governments in New Jersey for years. His byline has appeared in The Record, New Jersey Monthly and publications formerly owned by Greater Media Newspapers.
Jack grew up in Brick and graduated, summa cum laude, from Rutgers University.
Aside from the news, Jack loves living in Washington Heights, NY, with his wife, watching the Mets with one eye open and playing rock 'n' roll music.
